In 2021, n Architecture Inc. was commissioned to design a high-density residential development in Barrie, Ontario. The proposal consists of a 17-storey apartment building with two levels of underground parking and a GFA of approximately 404,883 sq. ft. The development will accommodate 400 residential units and includes resident amenities such as a ground-floor party room and a landscaped outdoor courtyard that encourages recreation and community interaction.
Located near the intersection of Anne Street North and Edgehill Drive, the development is defined by a prominent tower element that creates a distinctive landmark visible from Highway 400 and the surrounding streets. The design responds to this strategic location through a distinctive architectural composition that strengthens the area’s evolving urban character while establishing a strong presence within the city skyline. Varying balcony projections introduce depth and rhythm to the façade, enhancing its visual appeal and contemporary expression. The residential wings curve gently around a central courtyard, maximizing access to natural light, improving outward views, and creating a comfortable relationship with adjacent properties and public streets.
The architecture thoughtfully blends modern design with traditional influences. Through its sculpted form, articulated facades, and prominent location, the development is envisioned as a new landmark that enhances the visual experience.
